Methel R. Kitchen
CONNEAUT - Methel R. Kitchen, 85, formerly of Sherman Street, died Saturday,
Dec. 21, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 12, 1917, in Monroe Township, a daughter of Cary and Mary (Dittler)
Van Skoik.
Mrs. Kitchen graduated with special honors from Conneaut High School in 1936.
She was employed at the former W.T. Grant department store and as an office
manager for Eazor Trucking.
She attended Lakeview United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Moose and
Eagle club auxiliaries and a member of the Hammonds Corners Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed wallpapering, doing search-and-find puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Since October 2001, Mrs. Kitchen had lived at The Villa at the Lake, where she
enjoyed stretching class, dominoes, bingo, crafts and concerts.
Survivors include her three daughters, Nora Peck of Brooksville, Fla., and Norma
Jean Howland and Barbara Godfrey, both of Conneaut; two sons, Wendell of North
Kingsville, and Charles of Conneaut; 17 grandchildren; and 15
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ed and Raymond; and two
sisters, her twin, Ethel, and Bertha.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center,
208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. David Miller, of Lakeview United Methodist
Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the mausoleum at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
